Local actress lends feminine touch to 'Two and a Half Men'

Jennifer Bini Taylor was thisclose to leaving Tinseltown behind and becoming an acting teacher.

She'd had enough of the disappointing auditions, rejection and cutthroat competition.

"We were planning on moving back to Florida -- Juniper Springs,'' says the married mother of two who grew up in Coral Springs. "My house was on the market. We were done. But I was at peace with it.''
But then The Call came.

It was the producers of Two and a Half Men, CBS' hit comedy about two brothers living together -- one a socially challenged divorced father (Jon Cryer as Alan) of a wisecracking kid (Angus T. Jones), the other a skirt-chasing cad (Charlie Sheen as Charlie). Taylor knew the show well; she had appeared on the pilot in 2003, then again a year later as a completely different character. She was now being offered the role of -- at last, something meaty! -- Charlie's headstrong fiancée, Chelsea.
Hopefully, viewers have a bad memory. "I might look familiar to them,'' she says. "As long as it works, I'm happy!''
It remains to be seen if the womanizing jingle writer will make it to the aisle; even Taylor doesn't know.

"Will there be a wedding next season? I hope so,'' says the 37-year-old Coral Springs High grad. "Chelsea makes him real. She calls him out on his stuff but still accepts him.''

Remind her of anybody?

"Ha! I have friends who say Charlie reminds them of my husband,'' she says. "Probably because he was a playboy back in the day. But, like Charlie, you always know where you stand with him, he calls it as he sees it and doesn't mince words.''

Though L.A. is Taylor's home for the time being, the Florida girl gets back as often as she can.

"I can't go to the beach here! I'm too spoiled,'' she says. "I have to be able to see the bottom. If I can't, my butt's not going in the water!''
